While we usually advise a lead-in time of around 1-2 weeks between signing up for our Home Energy Masterplan service and receiving a visit from one of our expert surveyors, we do strive to accommodate clients whenever possible. Still, it was quite a surprise whilst visiting a project management client in Exeter last Friday to receive a call from the office asking if I could drop by a house in rural Devon to carry out a Masterplan survey that afternoon!
The homeowners had recently moved in and had wasted no time in getting stuck in to renovation work. A relative in the construction industry had recommended that they bring us in to advise on the most appropriate measures to reduce energy use at the property. Given the current state of the house, along with the fact that it is off the national gas network, there was lots to look at. As Chris discussed in his previous blog, there are various heating options for those who are off-grid; heat pumps, biomass, electric storage heaters, new oil/LPG boilers, all of which will need to be sized depending on which fabric measures the owners choose to take forward. The government’s proposed RHI scheme adds another dimension still to these options and we’ll be considering any potential payments from this alongside the predicted cost savings.
To arrange your own Masterplan survey, just give us a call in the office (020 8874 6433) or enquire here. We may not get to you by tea time but we will get you booked in asap!
